Saves Careers • Revitalizes Care-Providers • Restores Mission Passion • Increases Retention
Exposure to the traumas of those you serve, multiplied case after case, has the likely effect of traumatizing care-providers. Secondary or Vicarious Trauma can profoundly impact care providers health and career – emotional depletion, depression and anxiety, a sense of isolation or helplessness, anger, irritability, cynicism, and burnout. Without a healing response, the outcome is frequently Compassion Fatigue and abandonment of careers. These are not problems which overtake less competent care-providers. It is, ironically, those with the greatest capacity for feeling and expressing empathy who are most at risk for secondary trauma. The healers need healing.

TOPICS COVERED:
• Introduction of Vicarious Traumatization: Honoring and bringing awareness to the commonality of participants’ experiences, as well as bring awareness to the stressors faced by those who work in the early childhood field.
• Acknowledging Multiple Motivations: Why do you do what you do? Recognizing how unexamined multiple motivations and sought personal growth benefits can make one vulnerable to compassion fatigue and burnout.
• So What Can We Do About It? Examining Attachment to Outcomes: Helping participants shift their work style away from an over-personalized involvement; to find less self-critical ways in which to perform this work.
• Self-Care Plan: Creating a powerful and tailored self-support tool for managing the stresses encountered in the work
